A home puja is a special day for your family. The pandit you choose sets the tone: calm, clear and respectful, or rushed and confusing. This checklist helps you compare pandits quickly, even if you have never booked one before.

1. Start with what you need

Write down the puja (for example Griha Pravesh or Satyanarayan Katha), the date you prefer, the number of guests and your address. A pandit can only quote a fair price when these details are clear.

2. Check the language and tradition

Rituals differ across regions and families. A Bengali family doing Durga Puja may want a pandit who knows the Bengali tradition, while another family may prefer Hindi or Sanskrit with a simple explanation in English. Ask which language the pandit will use and whether they explain each step.

3. Ask for a clear price

  • Ask for the full price, not only a starting price.
  • Ask what is included: puja only, or puja plus samagri (items).
  • Ask about travel charges and extra helpers.
  • Agree the amount and advance before the day, preferably in writing or on WhatsApp.

4. Understand who arranges the samagri

Some pandits bring everything, some give you a list. Both are fine. Problems start when this is not discussed. A short list a few days before the puja avoids last-minute shopping.

5. Look for signs of trust

  • A clear profile with experience, languages and services.
  • Identity checked by the platform (for example an ID Verified badge).
  • Honest answers when you ask what they can and cannot do.
  • Reviews from real families, when available.

6. Confirm the muhurat and timing

Ask the pandit to suggest a good date and time from the panchang, and confirm how long the puja will take. Share the timing with your guests early.

Questions to ask before you book

  1. Which languages will you use during the puja?
  2. How many years have you done this puja?
  3. What is the total price and what does it include?
  4. Will you bring the samagri, or should I arrange it?
  5. How long will the puja take, and how many people do you bring?
