Shri Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan is one of India's most beloved Krishna shrines. The idol of Banke Bihari Ji is worshipped in the form of a child, and the temple is famous for its unique Jhulan Yatra and curtain veil (Parda) tradition.

Darshan Timings (Summer & Winter)

  • Summer Timings: Morning 7:45 AM - 12:00 PM | Evening 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM
  • Winter Timings: Morning 8:45 AM - 1:00 PM | Evening 4:30 PM - 8:30 PM

The Unique Parda (Curtain) Tradition

Unlike other Hindu temples, Banke Bihari Ji has no loud bell ringing. Instead, a curtain is drawn in front of the deity every few minutes. Tradition holds that continuous eye contact with Banke Bihari Ji's divine gaze can make the devotee swoon in ecstasy.

Important Tips for Pilgrims

  1. Be careful with spectacles and cell phones: Monkeys in Vrindavan lanes often snatch glasses. Keep them inside bags.
  2. Park vehicles at Chattikara or Sunrakh parking lots and take an e-rickshaw into the narrow temple lanes.
  3. Combine your visit with Prem Mandir evening illumination and ISKCON Vrindavan sandhya aarti.
