About Vishnupad Temple
Vishnupad Temple was rebuilt in 1787 by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore using carved octagonal granite blocks.
Inside the sanctum lies the 40 cm long 'Vishnupad' (footprint of Lord Vishnu) imprinted on solid basalt rock, surrounded by an octagonal silver basin. It is India's most famous site for Pind Daan ancestor rituals.
