About Ramanathaswamy Temple
Ramanathaswamy Temple on Pamban Island is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and part of the holy Char Dham circuit. According to Ramayana, Lord Rama consecrated the Shiva Linga here to seek forgiveness after the war in Lanka.
The temple is world-renowned for its 1,212-meter long outer corridor with 1,200 carved granite pillars and 22 sacred water wells (Theerthams).
